Hey there, I’m Matt!

I’m the Founder and Creative Director of Constructive. One of the things I’m most passionate about is finding new ways to unite brand strategy and design thinking to create experiences that help make the world a more equitable, enjoyable, and sustainable place.

Q: What's one thing you won't learn from my bio?

My wife Tonya and I have an amazing 16-year-old child, Sam, who is strong, empathetic, smart, and funny. I'm also objective.

Matt partners with Constructive’s clients and teams to make sure that we stay focused on what matters—and that our partnerships and the work we produce meet shared expectations and the highest standards. He brings 28 years of experience as a designer, brand strategist, and writer for the social impact sector, setting the vision and standards of quality for Constructive so that our teams can apply their expertise to co-create meaningful brand value with our clients.

As Creative Director, Matt stays closely connected to our work, serving as a consultative advisor to clients and providing hands-on mentoring and guidance for Constructive’s teams to focus our collective efforts on delivering exceptional, mission-aligned results. In leading Constructive, Matt collaborates with company leadership to ensure that our policies, processes, and practices live up to our core values and foster an environment in which our people can thrive and do their best work.

Matt contributes to the field of nonprofit design as a writing, speaker, and mentor. His work has been recognized for excellence by organizations such as The Webbys, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, The Case Awards, Graphic Design USA, The W3 Awards, The Communicator Awards, and others. He served for seven years on the Leadership Team of the NY chapter of The Communications Network, and volunteers locally in his hometown at the Hoboken Shelter. Matt earned his BA from Sarah Lawrence College in Writing & Visual Studies, and then conducted post-graduate design studies at the School of Visual Arts, Rhode Island School of Design, and Parsons.
