Jon is a self-taught full-stack web developer who first began learning programming 10 years ago as a hobby and to build an inventory system for cataloging his large collection of movies and other media files. He continued experimenting with and trying out different programming languages and application frameworks, eventually settling with Ruby on Rails. He landed his first paying job around this time and soon found himself working full-time building web applications using Rails for businesses in the cleantech sector. Over the next 8 years, Jon has expanded his skill set through experience in building websites with a multitude of application frameworks using languages like Ruby, Python, Node, Java, and PHP. He also tries to keep up to date with the latest frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and various JavaScript toolkits like Angular, Backbone, and React. When not building websites or learning new technologies, Jon spends his free time watching horror movies, reading science fiction, or playing video games.
